Pistons made from Federal-Mogul Powertrain’s new aluminium alloy called DuraForm-G91 have a more compact cylinder block design, resulting in lowered CO2 emissions. Federal-Mogul Powertrain announced today at the Auto Expo 2016 in New Delhi (Hall No. 12A, Stall 13) that the company’s original equipment (OE) engine technologies for Euro 6 emission standards are also available for India’s vehicle and engine manufacturers, who are tasked with meeting BS VI emissions requirements by 2020. The company says it is already producing these components in large quantities for Euro 6 engines in Europe and for engines with comparable emissions standards in North America. The company has created manufacturing capacity in India to produce some of its Euro 6 components there. Federal-Mogul Powertrain’s Euro 6 expertise covers engine components for both passenger cars as well heavy-duty vehicles. Key emissions-reducing products showcased during the show include pistons, piston rings, bearings and bushings, valves, valve seats and guides, sealing, spark plugs and system protection products. This is in line with the company’s focus on making high-performance precision engine components that contribute to a greener, cleaner and safer environment. Early engagement with Federal-Mogul Powertrain enables Indian OE customers to leverage the company’s Euro 6 expertise in R&D, engineering and production to ensure efficient development programs for state-of-the-art BS VI engines for the Indian market. Most of Federal-Mogul Powertrain products launched and showcased at Auto Expo 2016 are BS VI-compliant. “Federal-Mogul is committed to developing advanced solutions that allow our customers to address critical vehicle performance requirements such as improved fuel economy, CO2emissions reduction, friction reduction and engine downsizing,” said Vinod Hans, managing director, India, Federal-Mogul Powertrain. “India is a very significant market for us, considering the growing number of global auto manufacturers located here. It’s important that we continue to bring the latest engine technologies to this market, so we can help our customers to meet the demands of the market, as well as, the BS VI air quality requirements.” Introducing valvetrain for OE segment and Eco Friction range for 2- & 3-wheelers The company has, for the first time, showcased its valvetrain for the OE segment and sealing range of products. This has been acquired from TRW and includes a range of inlet and exhaust valves, tappets and cotters for all different engines and sizes, which have application in light, medium and heavy duty vehicles. Its sealing solutions will help customer meet high cylinder peak pressure, enabling low bore distortion. Federal-Mogul has also launched its Ferodo Eco Friction range of two- and three-wheeler braking products for the aftermarket in India. These are eco-friendly and non-asbestos products, says the company.
